The Mpumalanga community is mourning the devastating loss of Godfrey Khoza and Vigo Khoza, who tragically passed away following a vehicle accident that ended in the Crocodile River near Mbombela (Nelspruit). Their untimely deaths have left family members, friends, and loved ones heartbroken as they come to terms with an unimaginable loss.
According to police reports, witnesses alerted authorities during the early hours of Sunday, 7 June 2026, after seeing a Haval SUV overshoot an intersection, crash through a fence, and plunge into the crocodile-infested Crocodile River. Emergency search and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they located the submerged vehicle.
Brave police divers entered the cold waters and confirmed that two individuals were trapped inside the vehicle. Using specialized recovery equipment, rescuers successfully removed the SUV from the riverbank, where the victims were later identified as Godfrey Khoza and Vigo Khoza.
Though details regarding their personal biographies remain private, Godfrey and Vigo are being remembered as cherished members of their family and community. Their lives touched many people, and their sudden passing has created a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.

The tragedy has been made even more difficult by the ongoing search for 21-year-old Zinande Chiloane, who remains missing. Police confirmed that a cellphone believed to belong to Chiloane was discovered inside the recovered vehicle, and search efforts continue.
